Growing up, I was sure I’d end up as an airline pilot. Funny that my son is now studying to be a long-haul pilot, living my dream. I enjoyed swimming, squash and basketball at school.
After I did work experience in my dad’s family business, I fell in love with this industry. I like the diversity of property and people and the fact that no two deals are the same.
I reckon that communication, transparency and empathy are the key attributes for my job. When people really connect with a property they can see themselves living in it. I get huge pleasure from seeing the relief and happiness on people’s faces when settlement day arrives.
I’m a big NASCAR fan of American V8 racing. In general I’m hooked on motoring and 4WDing, whether its driving down an old red dirt road in the outback or holidaying in Kakadu National Park. I also have fond memories of the first ski boat I owned, a Sterling Pintara. That’s why even today I can water ski backwards.
On one famous holiday, I drove the family to Brisbane to see a rodeo and got the wrong weekend. What a laugh. But the thing I really adore about my kids is how they think BIG – their dreams and aspirations have no boundaries.
